By Stephanie MayA round of applause goes out to the victors of The Venue’s battle of the bands. The first place prize of $1,000 cash went to Nampa’s In the Pause, followed by 2nd place purveyors of fun Stop Drop and Party who won a $500 recording package with Speck Studio. 3rd place winners Threshold acquired a $450 merchandise package from Defined Productions.
According to promoter and Hot Local Knights coordinator Jaclyn Brandt, “Scores were based on ticket sales, votes (and their votes from the semi-finals carried over) and then we had judges judging in 4 categories, which were marketability, professionalism, crowd interaction and songwriting/technical ability.”
Great job guys, we look forward to seeing what you do with your prizes!

By Stephanie MayI’m a dork and have guilty pleasures on TV that include catching the CW’s One Tree Hill every Monday night. As I watched the new episode last night, I recognized one of the songs that played behind a scene. I zoned in on the tune and became sure it was a song by low-fi, so I ran into my office and grabbed my copy of their 2007 album Where You Are. Sure enough, it was the title track. The Season 7 episode titled “My Attendance Is Bad, But My Intentions Are Good” should appear soon on cwtv.com.
Congratulations to low-fi! You can catch the band next on February 27th at Neurolux with Future Historians for $3.
